Our Farm Sign Made By Ellis Robinson
Goebel Hill Farm has a beautiful new sign thanks to my number one supporter over the last 50-ish years, my dad. Not only is my dad a veteran, his birthday falls on Veteran’s Day and today he turned 88 years old.
My dad rototilled a garden for me every year beginning way back when I was a kid, all through my teens, even when I moved out on my own into a rental house with a yard and then my first house. When I finally landed at Goebel Hill Farm back in 1990, he arrived with a SUITCASE full of starter compost – a gift from a friend of his – the magic ingredient for a working compost pile. He always managed to come up with a rototiller in the spring and he never once questioned me. He seemed to understand I needed to grow a garden every year and was happy to help me accomplish that back then.

GHF Sign
Recently, my dad designed and made this awesome farm sign for us . We finally have it securely posted out on Goebel Hill Road above our gate. When I paid him a visit last month, he gave me this beautiful lamp to enjoy as I peruse seed catalogs this winter. (He also taught me to use words like “peruse”.) He made this lampshade out of wood!
